Drawn Over Mandel (DOM)
DOM steel tube is made from an electrical resistance welded steel hollow tube. It is further processed by cold drawing over a mandrel, to control the ID, and through dies, to control the OD. Typical characteristics include very precise tolerances, maximum concentricity and high strength.
Typical uses are bushings, axles, fluid power components, spacers and machine parts.
Note: For telescoping applications use caution. DOM tolerances are to the plus side on the OD and to the minus side for the ID, for outside diameters of 5.500” or less.
For example: 2.000” OD X .250” wall (1.5” id), the od will not be smaller the 2.000” and can go up to 2.006”. The ID will be 1.500” maximum and can go down to 1.494” ID.
